Coming to you from Chicago this weekend because Nikki just ran the marathon. She was one of 50,000+ people who finished 26.2 miles yesterday. It was an impressive event in an impressive city.
Running marathons is kind of crazy. The vast majority of participants are putting themselves through severe mental suffering just to prove to themselves that they can do it. That they can perform. Around mile 20, every runner hits “the wall.” The body wants to stop. The people who finish aren’t necessarily faster, they’re the ones who keep moving when it gets hard.
We’re at mile 20 of the year.
We have 11 weeks left in Q4. Teams are either on track to hit goals or they’re behind.
The teams that close strong aren’t working under perfect conditions. They’re dealing with the same constraints and problems as everyone else. They just don’t use those as reasons to coast.
Eleven weeks is enough time to make meaningful progress.
The finish line is there whether you’re ready or not.
